One Book, Many Ways

In discussing things of faith with people of different Christian faiths, I'm starting to discover something. Actually, something is beginning to gel in my head and give me a more clear vision for some questions that need to be answered. Some beliefs that need to address disbeliefs in others.

Without being confrontational, there are simple, basic, fundamentals of Christianity that even "Christians" don't agree about. I want to start a series which will discuss these key points, but I want to start off with the understanding that this conversation is not for everyone. This conversation will deal with Christianity in its most basic sense. This conversation will take place independent of anything that people have heard, or what people have been believing for many many years, or tradition, or anything - because ultimately, our opinions and insights don't matter. God does. This conversation will focus on Biblical questions, and it is my hope that we will get Biblical answers.

The first question is: Why are we here?

What does the Bible say about our purpose on earth? What's the point? What Bible verses give us an understanding of why we're here?
